Thomas Edison and the Paranormal
Have you ever wanted to contact family members or friends who have passed away? Many individuals including ghost hunters would love to sit down and have conversations with spirits from the great beyond. In the past, we relied on psychic mediums and conducted séance to receive answers from the beyond. Over the last 89 years, we have studied whether or not ghosts exist by creating machines that communicate with the deceased that have been designed to pick up cold spots and areas of excessive energy among many other paranormal events.
Several readers of the Congelier House ghost story has shown an interest in the paranormal investigation work that world renowned inventor Thomas Edison was a part of before his death. As we know, Thomas Edison was the inventor of the phonograph, the motion picture, the light bulb, and may other machines and gadgets that are used today. Legend says that he used this invention to investigate the many unexplained activities that have occurred in the mansion before it was destroyed in 1920.
This machine was supposed to contact the dead and record their responses. His theory was based upon his belief of intelligence of all kinds existed throughout the universe whether it was living or after death. However, documentation that involved this machine has been “lost” along with many other documents of his final works right after his death in 1931.
The legend also states that he was working on this machine with Sir William Crooke, the inventor of the vacuum cleaner who also believed in the afterlife. Rumor has it that both inventors were collaborating with one another to create the machine which would be the future of paranormal studies. It was said that Crooke had created an invention that captured apparition’s on film. Edison believed that because William Crookes invention had worked to capture the dead, that his machine would work to communicate with the deceased. However, several conflicting stories have surfaced as to whether this ghost machine was ever completed and very few people have confirmed coming in contact with this machine or its documents.
Several people stated theories including the Edison Museum staff have claimed that this machine that allows the living to contact the dead does not exist and never has. Some have claimed to hold séance which Edison himself was giving tips on how to perfect the very machine that was in question. Some have claimed that his assistants held the documents and machine that would have made Edison more famous than ever before. This leaves us with many unknown answers as to whether this machine that speaks to the dead really exists or not which leads us to several different possibilities and surrounding theories in regards to ghost hunting in the past and now.
Did Edison really create a machine that talks to the dead? Many of us are trying to find the existence of this machine which could become the future of receiving answers from those deceased long ago and more recently. What he has discovered of the afterlife and the abilities to contact them will always remain with him for all of eternity. We may never know the truth behind the inventions existence but the legend has made him one of the great pioneers of what we know as today’s ghost hunters.
