Grant Wilson Leaves “Ghost Hunter’s”

Grant Wilson Leaves “Ghost Hunter’s”. If you watched the latest episode of “Ghost Hunters”, you saw the major announcement at the end of the show.  His last episode will air Wednesday, May 16 @ 9pm, and he will wrap production at some point next month. He will remain a member of T.A.P.S but will be taking some time off.

In a statement on the T.A.P.s web page Grant said:

“It is with mixed emotion that I am announcing my departure from the cast of Ghost Hunters.  While paranormal investigating has always been and will remain a passion for me, after enjoying nearly eight successful seasons on television, I have made the decision to leave the series in order to focus on other aspects of my personal life.

I will deeply miss working with Jason and the rest of the dedicated investigators and crew that have become like family, and I wish them all the best as they continue to follow their passion and realize the vision of TAPS.

I will also miss interacting with our wonderful fans worldwide.  You are all at the heart of what we do on Ghost Hunters, and I’m grateful to have gotten to know many of you over the years.

Thank you to Syfy and Pilgrim Studios for giving me the opportunity to do what I love for nearly eight years, and for supporting this difficult decision.”

Jason Hawes, co-founder of the T.A.P.S. along with Wilson added:

“When Grant and I founded TAPS nearly 20 years ago, we never imagined that we would be able to make such an impact just by doing what we enjoy every day.  I will miss working with Grant on a daily basis, and am indebted to the level of dedication and expertise he has brought to our field.

I can’t imagine having a better partner through it all – both on the show and off.  Grant and I, along with our spouses and children, are all like one big family.  While I fully support his decision to move on from the series, this longtime friendship – as well as our business partnership – will continue off-camera for years to come.”

In a Q&A posted on the T.A.P.S website it was pointed out the Grant did not leave due to illness, the show being canceled, a rift with Jason nor was he fired. It did say that “Grant is looking forward to going back to school to pursue his interests in graphic design, as well as continue to actively pursue his passion for music and art “.

As Grant Wilson leaves “Ghost Hunter’s” there is no plan to replace him as a lead investigator, he will take some down time but will remain a member of T.A.P.S, will no longer have personnel appearances but will still remain active at the Spalding Inn he co-owns with Jason.

Paranormal News: ESPN’s Bill Simmons Skirvin Hotel Experience

So are ghosts real? OK, that question is way beyond the scope of this new article but I can say after a stay in the Skirvin Hilton in Oklahoma City, there are a few more believers out there. The Skirvin Hotel is said to be haunted by a maid that had an affair with the then owner W.B. Skirvin.

She had a child by Skirvin and to avoid a scandal, she was locked in a room on the top floor. Growing depressed the girl, whose name remains a mystery, took the child in her arms and threw herself and the baby out of the window.

Guest and employees have since heard the sounds of a baby crying and have seen a woman in a maid uniform walking the halls. Since she had no name, the apparition was nicknamed “Effie” by employees.

Back in January 2010, the New York Knicks made the news and it had nothing to do with basketball. It seems during a stay at the famed haunted hotel a few players couldn’t sleep. Jared Jeffries and Eddy Curry claim they got little or no sleep during their stay there. Jared Jeffries was quoted as saying, “I definitely believe it. The place is haunted. It’s scary.”

It seems the hotel and Effie ended 2010 with a bang as well. In a side column in ESPN columnist Bill Simmons article on December 31st (near the bottom), he describes a recent stay at the hotel during a trip where he went to see the Oklahoma Thunder play. Upon checking in he asked if he was in one of the haunted rooms, the clerk said yes and he said they had a little laugh over it.

Then this is what he said happened:

“At first, I heard a baby crying and realized that was why I woke up. I thought it was one of my own kids before remembering that my kids weren’t babies anymore, then remembering that I was in Oklahoma City and not Los Angeles. Suddenly, it dawned on me that I wasn’t alone. I had an overpowering sensation that someone else was in the room……..I decided to turn on the light. Stretching to my right for the switch, out of nowhere, I heard the sound of (what sure as hell sounded like) a baby crying urgently to my far left (right near the window). Wahhhhhhh. Wahhhhhh. Wahhhhhh. Wahhhhhhh.”

Just like Eddie Currie and Jared Jeffries claims of no sleep, Bill Simmons said he spent his last three and a half hours with the lights and television on, somewhere between being asleep and awake and “totally spooked”.

I am not sure how Mr. Simmons felt about ghosts before that stay but I do know how he feels now,

“Just know that the next time someone tells me a ghost story, I will believe them.”
