I found this article at the tuscaloosanews.com written by wvua.tv. I think all good investigators should go into a paranormal investigation with open minds and always looking for a logical reason for the activities that are happening. A great example was a recent article I put on twitter where it was a found a cell phone ringing was making a stove come on (Here).
Below is the story about the broom standing up by itself. It reportedly does so in three different spots. Admittedly this is only one story and I have not been there to witness this phenomenon myself but by “skeptic radar” is going off. What better way to open a new store than to have news stories of paranormal activity going on? I am not saying this is the case, hopefully an investigation can show no logical explanation for these activities and come up with a possible paranormal reason for the brooms standing up by themselves but the skeptic side of me is yelling the loudest on this one.
There is something strange going on in a business in Prattville, Alabama. A broom is standing upright, all by itself. Christy Burdett was in the process of opening up her new consignment shop, Vintage Blu, in the town when her co-worker moved a shelf and noticed that the cheap, little broom in the middle of the floor was still standing.
If you push the broom a little, it stays in place. If you knock it down, then you can put it right back where it was. It’s not just the center of the store that keeps the broom on its bristles, there are two other locations as well. The store owner says there’s “a holy spirit” in there.
Paranormal teams have traveled to check out the balancing broom, and not to mention the droves of people who are coming by to see if it is true. If all goes according to the plan, Burdett says Vintage Blu will open next week, with the broom as the main attraction.

Why is this such a big deal in a consignment shop? I’ve been doing the “magic standing alone broom” trick for years. I’ve lived in Southeast Kansas and now in Arkansas and each broom I’ve had and each place I’ve lived in the stand alone broom trick always works. It’s not a magical consignment shop. It’s just the low center of gravity of the broom. I’ve used straight handled brooms and angle handled brooms and the result is always the same. I think there’s more newsworthy things out there than a magical broom in Alabama.
After hearing about this on the news, I thought I’d try it myself. It’s hard to find a kitchen broom you can’t do it with! Maybe I’ll got mt Lowe’s and stand a few up in the aisle to get the “Halloween Spirit” going!! LOL

We have one of those heavy vacuum brooms, I can make that broom stand also. I have seen a couple comments around where a paranormal team has gone in and found nothing unusual but nothing “official” about an investigation.
Yes!!! We have our broom standing up in the middle of our kitchen right now!! We also did it at school in the hall for all the students to see!! Our neighbors and friends have their brooms standing up right now! I had to try several places before it worked but I did not “balance” it. It just stood up!! Mine has been up since 6:00 and it is now 9:00 pm. Someone said that it had to do with the alignment of the planets and their magnetic force on the earth!! Is this true? It’s happening everywhere!!! umm the whole broom thing is from the equinox, and the gravitational pull.. its not some paranormal ghost deal. f.y.i.
We tried the broom deal at my work and it works so I went home and stood up my old broom and lo and behold it worked. It stood there all night and then it was kinda freakin me out so I put it back in the corner. My son in Murray Ky tried it also and it worked.
Ok,the broom thing is freaking me out. At a retailer today, a customer stood two of them up in the aisle. So I take a picture. Did research online and tried mine here at home. IT IS STILL STANDING!!
When my girls came home from school and told me about this we stood ours up. That was yesterday and they are still standing. It does work. Don’t know why. Just does. And that’s two brooms actually. One angle broom and one bristle broom. Which means one has a lightweight metal handle and one has a wooden handle.
I saw the standing broom at school today. I’m a substitute teacher. I tried it at home and it does work. Will it work all the time? One teacher says it only happens rarely when the planets are properly lined …something having to do with gravitational forces. She heard about it on a local radio station.

I have had a broom standing in my office for about three weeks. Has not fallen over once. I also stood brooms in the store and at home (all diffrent kinds)and they stayed until put away. I am in Port Neches, TX and would like to know…..balanced or possessed?
ummmmm well I’m not posotive but at my school we are standing brooms up because around the equinox (irdk what that is lol but i know its in the fall) thats supposed to be the only time u can stand them up. or something like that idk
