It opened in 1890 and was a very luxurious hotel featuring, indoor plumbing, gas powered chandeliers, a French restaurant, a beautiful fountained courtyard and an aviary of exotic birds. Cedar Key itself is full of Florida history being one of the oldest ports in the state as well as the site of one of the first railroads.
