Saturday started early – Being at the gates of Gettysburg Park soon after it opened. Our destination this morning would be Devils Den, the Triangle Field and Little Round Top. It was very misty this morning and gave a real eerie feel to the battlefield.
We started at the Triangle Field and this happened to be my first experience in Gettysburg. We were standing at the top of the field right behind Devils Den. There were trails that led about 50 feet into the field. Looking down across the field I saw what looked like two figures standing up then bending over.
There were about 6 of us present and I called the rest of them over to see if they could verify what I saw. They did and we took pictures (that I have yet to get to) and me and two others headed down the field to see what we could uncover.
When we got to the spot, we saw a hill that had a wall of rocks on top, a possible hiding spot for Confederates trying to storm the hill. Could what we saw been soldiers taken cover behind this wall? Maybe, but for now it was just a personnel experience for me and verified by the ones who were there with me and will forever be my first Gettysburg experience.
The Triangle Field has also garnered the reputation as an area where perfectly operating cameras has suddenly gone bad. This was also experienced by the 4 cameras in our group. I was taking snap shots but was too far away to get a good shot. So I called over one in our group who had a good lens to get a close shot. When she came over with her camera, which already had been taking pictures fine only a few feet away, it suddenly wouldn’t focus.
We also had a person with us with a lot of photography experience and her camera would not focus either and once I got down to the spot and wanted to video, my camera wouldn’t record and resorting to a video phone as a last resort, it to failed to go into wide screen mode. Coincidence? Maybe to some but not to us, as soon as we got back to the road all cameras were functioning perfectly.
We did an early morning EVP session at Devils Den but there were no responses on it. Took a lot of pictures and you felt in awe of what had happened at this spot during the battle. The pictures are awesome but so far nothing paranormal. We left with a promise to come back before we left in the evening hours. Little Round Top was just across from Devils Den and another personal experience times 6.
Myself and my girlfriend were doing an EVP session on the far left and there was someone just to the right of us up the hill about 100 feet away. I get ready to push the record to start session and we hear a boom boom. We yelled up to see if it was heard by others and it was, cannon fire. Seems gun fire and cannons being heard is a common occurrence at the park but was first for me. Going back after the EVP session, the others on the far left side confirmed hearing it too. As we stood there talking about it and deciding to head back to the hotel, we heard multiple sounds similar to gun shots.
This was close to 8 am in the morning and though we thought too early to be re-enactors we headed out anyway to see if any may be could find some. Riding past the two most likely spots, we found no one in the area that could have fired the shots. Later Ray Couch, who put on this event, told us he stopped a Park Ranger later and asked if there was anything going on this morning. He was told no one was allowed to shoot firearms before 10 am in the park. Hopefully, someone may have captured this on audio, we shall see.
That evening we got a surprise and were told we were going to the Daniel Lady farm and get a private tour with Mark Nesbitt and his wife Carol and get to investigate the original house and barn on the property that served as a field hospital for the Confederate army. Mark shared a bunch of history, including the blood that is still staining the original floors and showed us around both the barn and the house before conducting an EVP session of his own. Though it seemed on this night, no one wanted to chat. We however “may” have a little EVP with a gentleman that has said to have worked in the make shift hospital. With a little more verification, we will post evidence later this week.
The night ended again early Sunday morning with a fantastic presentation about pictures and identifying orbs versus dusts, bugs or lens flare. So far, two nights and a heck of a lot of activity, experiences and a great history lesson; now if we could just get some solid evidence to go along with it! If you follow us on Twitter you already know we did get at least one piece of solid evidence – a load and clear answer in an EVP session.
Day three and the last day write up will come tomorrow and later this week will post the EVP evidence and any pictures we may have gotten.

I live 30 mins from Gettysburg and have gone on ghost hunts by myself in evening. One night right before closing (10pm) I was in observation tower by myself – the one on Big Round Top. I was audio recording; my recorder was resting on the seat. It was switched to sound-activated recording. I did not ‘hear’ anything, but when I reached down to collect my recorder I noticed it was ‘recording’ something. I thought it was odd. When I got home and listened, at the very end of the tape, it sounds like someone is running up the metal steps toward me. I tried to brush it off like it was the sound of the tape running out. But do tapes really make that thump-thump-thump-thump- sound on a handheld?
One time I was eating in the Railroad Diner (I don’t recall the exact name. It’s the diner that sits on the train tracks north of the square) with my sister. We finished eating and had to use the restroom. The bathroom is at the back of the diner, down a set of 13 or so steps. It’s small. She came back up and I had to go. We passed in the aisle without really speaking. I went right down the steps, went to the bathroom and back up. We left the restaurant and were on our way home before we spoke. My sister sounded frustrated. She went on to complain about people smoking in public places and why can’t the staff smoke outside. I asked her what she meant? She said, “Couldn’t you smell it? I couldn’t even breathe in that bathroom and it was so small. Oh, my gosh. It made me sick.” I told her I hadn’t smelled anything. “Oh, how could you miss it? It took my breath away.” I asked her if she actually saw the smoke or just got the sensation. She admitted that she didn’t actually SEE any smoke. I went down those same narrow steps and into that very small bathroom only moments after her and experienced nothing. I think it was a phantom smell of cigar smoke. No one was downstairs. There was no smoke or smell that I noted. No one in our family smokes. We are all sensitive to smoke with various health problems. If there had been even a hint of smoke I would have smelled it. I think it was definitely paranormal.
Seems I made 2 mistakes on my entries. It was the Lincoln Diner where we ate. The tower was on Culp’s Hill, not Big Round Top. The tower is known to be a good spot for EVP.
I’ve really enjoyed reading about the Gettysburg trip. I’m sorry I missed sunday night. It sounds like you had a great time. I can’t wait till november. I tried to “follow” you on Twitter, but it says that I have been blocked, by your request. See everyone later.

Sunday was awesome at Devils Den! Hope your FF friend is OK. Sorry about twitter – not sure why it happened but I requested to follow you now. See you in November!
I went to Gettysburg last October, I captured some really good pics on the ghost tour, I got some mists in the pictues and orbs, and some figures, I heard the cannon’s going off, and I was in shock, it was so loud and it was right in the battlefield, no one was around it was raining, I am going back I love the place.
I went to Gettysburg last year for my 25th anniversary, we caught some orbs, and it was a cold day the first week of November, we went to all the sites, and then the next day we went alone walking and we heard cannon’s going off, I looked at my husband he looked at me no one was around and it was so clear, at night I asked one of the paranormal experts at the sites where they give the tours they said we witnessed paranormal activity, there were no reenactments that day, I knew it, it blew my mind, and now I am going back, I totally love this place.
